Dear Iowa'ian Grandma

Dear Surella and other with Danish language problems,

I am sorry I have been writing in Danish. My mother is a bit lazy but I tried to tell her that she should write some comments in English as well, but you know - parents do not always listen!

I am 7 months old tomorrow. I can walk (my mother keeps saying I can not but it is because she never gives me the chance). I know- I usually fall. Well, grown ups fall as well. Anyway, she tells me that I can stand. I like to stand at my sound-making playing tool (pictured in several of the past pictures) and hammer on it such that it makes sounds, which are driving my parents nuts.

I have had a cold for a week now. It is extremely annoying since I am not allowed to play with my friends. I have to admit that I prefer to play with my mother but she is reading a very interesting novel at the moment, so she is quite boring. I spend my time saying Da Da (in Danish it doesn't make any sense) but if I were French they would think I could become an artist joining the dadaism or in UK/USA my father would be proud and tell everyone that my first word was Dad. Other words are jaaaaa (yeeeeees). That is my favorite word. It is in contrast to my mother's constant NEJ (no), just to let her know that I have my own opinion and that I don't take a no for an answer.

My curly hair has caused a bit debate. My grandmother Kirsten (farmor) believes it is from her side of the family. My other grandmother Kirsten (mormor, it is actually quite confusing that my grandmothers share names) believes it is from hers.... Anyway, I love my curls and I can spend a lot of time touching the hair behind my ears. I don't scream like my mother when I touch her hair. Ok, touching may not be the right word, grabbing and pulling are maybe more correct, but anyway.

Time for me to sleep outside in the lovely Spring weather. My mother keeps telling me that small boys need sleep to become big boys. I wonder what she is talking about. I am a big boy (I realised that after a few weeks where I thought I was a dog and said like an excited dog all the time).

Oscar,Thanks for your interpretation. I think the curls come from your father's family. I had curls just like yours when I was little. Don't worry about the walking thing. I believe you and soon you will have practiced enough so you don't fall. Take care and I am sure you mean Dad when you say da da. Love from Iowa
